Please ensure you have a valid passport for travel. Quick reminder to double-check your passport’s expiration date and remember that many countries do not allow entry if your passport expires within six months of your departure date.
Visa
Europe: No visa required!
U.S.: As of 2025, visas are required for U.S. Citizens traveling to Brazil. The good news is the process is entirely online and takes less than 10min to complete; all you need is your basic information and a clear photograph of yourself. We recommend applying no later than one month before the trip, through approvals usually take just a few days. The cost is around $80 and the visa is valid for five years.

AIRFARE
To & From Brazil
Guests are kindly asked to book their own flights. We recommend arriving in São Paulo no later than the morning of July 24th to allow time for rest before the wedding. We will arrange for transportation from São Paulo to São Carlos.
We would recommend departing from São Paulo in the late afternoon or evening of August 1st. If you’re coming from LA/OC/SD, we can coordinate a group flight all together!
Within Brazil
Guests are also asked to book flights from the State of São Paulo to Bahia to enjoy an all inclusive hotel. The flights will depend on the number of people attending, so we’ll advise on these flights soon!

We would recommend staying here because it’s one of the closest hotels to the venue and our activities planned. Rooms are about $50/night.

Located closer centrally downtown, Hotel Anacã is considered to be one of the better hotels in São Carlos. Rooms are about $40/night.

About the Hotel
Come for a Buddymoon in Bahia! We’ll be staying at Iberostar Selection Praia do Forte, a beautiful all-inclusive oceanfront resort that’s perfect for relaxing, celebrating, and spending time together.

From the resort, we’ll also organize a day trip to Salvador, a nearby UNESCO World Heritage city known for its colorful colonial architecture, music, food, and culture.
Booking & Logistics
We’ve been in talks with the hotel and have secured a group rate. Rooms are priced per room rather than per person. Booking details and next steps will be shared soon.
Depending on the room size, four nights during our dates are expected to range from $1450-$2100 per room. Since rates are charged per room, couples can expect to split that cost. You should also anticipate some charges for transportation to and from the resort as well as any extra day activities you might be interested in. The Brazilian Real typically stays about a 5:1 exchange rate to USD. Meals are very affordable and you likely won't need cash to get around because most all places take card.

WEATHER
July will be the middle of winter for Brazil. In São Carlos, you can expect lows of 50 and highs in the 80s - think comfortable days and chilly nights with low odds of rain. In Bahia, we can expect to be a bit warmer, around 70s-80s and there's a higher chance for rain.

STREET SMARTS
Brazil is safe and welcoming for tourists, but like any city, it’s best to take precautions like avoiding flashy jewelry, keeping your phone out of plain sight, and staying aware of your surroundings.

GETTING AROUND
We'll be organizing the major transports, but to get around day to day, Uber is a great and reliable platform to use!

Brazil uses a Type N/Type C, we'd recommend getting a universal adapter for your devices.

For the girls, think long dresses, pretty formal, and colorful! You also might want something to keep you warm in the evening. For men, it's very similar to the U.S. - dress shirt and slacks, maybe a suit jacket to be warm.
